How to Clean a Rabbit… (Part 2 of 2)

November 11, 2009

in Wild Rabbits

Watch as I attempt to informally instruct viewers on the fine art of skinning and gutting a wild rabbit. This one I shot in Novemeber of ‘07 with my Gamo Air Rifle. This is one of the first animals I ever attempted to clean myself. I’m working really slow and I was supposed to skin it completely first and then gut it. I’ve learned a lot since last season. Check back later this fall for more effective techniques.

11trapper11 11.11.09 at 10:41 pm

why wouldent u use a bord to cut it on so your not grinding your knifes on the concrete and bluntining them

GRIzzlyKB 11.11.09 at 10:41 pm

the scissors you use there have a round place at the back of the blade, try using that to remove the feet. i think thats what its made that way for.

Oh man! Get the gloves on to be sterile and then you do the job on what looks like a slab of dirty concrete!! LOL! You could hear the clever grinding on the concrete! A table and board next time.

10 x easier than deer. i’m much better at it now. can be done in about 5 minutes…

backstaber182 11.11.09 at 10:41 pm

I have hunted tons of deer in my life but never rabbits. I just got a new slingshot and some metal pellets and i have been target practicing and stuff. But I dont know if I can skin it and field dress it like a deer.

when he said “you can keep the pelts if youre into that” i thought he said “you can keep the ‘pellets’ if youre into that” which completely changed the video until i realized it

So, does this mean that my Benjamin Bluestreak in .22 cal pellet is not real? I better put it back in the rack then…hmmm, I always thought it was real.

missdelish1 11.11.09 at 10:41 pm

I think there is way to much nice music, mess and the concrete floor dude what the heck are you doing. Are you going to make keychains out of the rabbits feet.

PCRedman 11.11.09 at 10:41 pm

And before.
