Came across 3 wild baby rabbits in my backyard when I came back from a 2 week vacation. The neighbors say that their cat killed the mother. I really want to save the babies. They have there eyes open but I’m really not sure how old they are. There are some woods near my house that I considered letting them go in because I’m concerned that the cat will come back and kill them as well. Is there any chance they will make it without there mother if I let them go? Should I call an animal rescue place?
I’m willing to try and take care of them and try and save them myself if there is a better chance of them making it. If that’s the case I’m going to need to know:
Any idea of what I should keep them in?
What do I feed them?
Any tips for taking care of them?

call a animal shelter…..if your not capable of takin care of them.
if you plan to take care of them buy books at petco or petsmart or any other animal place about rabbits. bunnys are hard to take care of just as hard as it is ti take care of a human baby….if you keep them out side u need to make them a house with wood shavings like what they put in hamster cages, make sure they dont get dirt in thier noses!!! its a hard responsibility they scratch, shed , and thier hard to catch becouse they run fast…..their is sooo much more about them you need to know…mabee you should turn them to a pet place……your choice
call the animal rescue people immediatly. DO NOT handle them
call animal control.
Put them back in the wild, let mother nature do her thing and wash everything they touched really well including yourself, as they can carry things that humans and other animals can get, very serious!!! If you take them to a vet or shelter they will be destroyed.
I had a similar situation at my neighbors house. We found five of the baby’s alive and three didn’t make it because of the cat. Odds are the mother is still alive, I hate to be so detailed but unless you found some remains she is still alive. The mother usually comes around in the late afternoon to evening. In our case we put the baby’s in a box with the open side to the ground and later on the mom came back and got her baby’s. There isn’t much you can do , its only nature and you really can’t prevent what goes on in the wild. And as for the animal control I wouldn’t trust them, they might just put them down.
The best thing to do is leave them alone.
Mother rabbits do not stay with the babies, they forage for food and come back to nurse. No way to know if the cat killed the mom or not, and their best chance is in the wild where they belong.
Kill them. Butter them up and put ‘em on the grill, 20 minutes each side. Sprinkle with seasoning and enjoy!
*Don’t forget the kids! Baby kittens (or puppies) make a tasty and delightful treat for the little ones!
